The catwalks really inspired me this year, but mostly in layers. Layering materials can create something very special, and that’s how this shoot was born, I suppose! I just love how the catwalks paraded lace layered over silks, and embroidery over netting.. it just worked. Then I noticed a slight gothic twist, with monochrome outfits paired with dark lipstick and scruffy, yet very beautiful, eye makeup. I liked it, so I recreated it and here it is! It’s not very often I would think to put on a gown and pair it with thick, biker boot heels – but I just love how this works. Proof that catwalks can inspire and help you create outfits out of things you might already own.

I love being inspired by fashion, and even more so because I have a place to pop all the photos we create. Flicking through magazines, watching adverts and so on is a great place to catch ideas. Recently I have been seeing the amazing Iris Apfel pop up and I didn’t realise how inspired I could be – she is 94 years of age and filled to the brim of personal style that most aspire to. Basically, she wears what she wants and looks amazing whilst doing so. I could read her fashion quotes all day, but the one that’s stuck with me the most is when she stated that jewelry was incredibly important to any outfit – sometimes I forget about this. So, inspired and taught the ways – in these photos I popped on some tattoo jewelry, because well, in the words of Iris.. why on earth not?!

 Iris has also been fronting the DS 3 campaign which I came across recently.. and let me tell you this car shares the same style motos as she does! Available in a wide array of bright colours, or just simple monochrome style if you wish. I’m all about keeping everything on trend, even my wheels.
