Rome won me over instantly – beautiful streets filled with the cutest restaurants, houses and photogenic moments. It left me feeling completely inspired and refreshed. They also have the best hot chocolate ever…
WHEN IN ROME
If you follow me via social media, you will have probably already seen the (tonnes) of Rome photos – it was just the most stunning city, with little gems hidden down every street. Obviously, it would be crazy not to shoot some blog photos.. and I like to think some part of me is sane! Wondering the streets with a delicious hot chocolate we came across plenty of houses I could have moved into there and then, and of course the occasional pastel coloured bicycle, perfect for instagram.
The one tip I had from everyone when I told them I was visiting Rome was to “be comfortable!”, so I listened! It was actually pretty warm but I made sure to layer up for the evenings. I’ve been loving these ASOS Ridley jeans recently too, they’re just the right amount of skinny and the perfect ‘high waisted’ height – I took 2 pairs with me and wore them the entire trip. I opted for a backpack which I found so much easier and secure when walking around.
Now, being a blogger means you have to carry around a lifetime supply of equipment and batteries.. which isn’t ideal if you want to keep your back bones feeling good. Although, my problems seem to have all been answered thanks to HP. Whilst in Rome I got to test out the brand new HP Spectre Laptop, which boasts a 12.5 hour battery life (heavenly) and ultra-slim design. During this day I was constantly checking my emails, updating my social media channels and when my phone battery ran out on me I was even using it to edit my photos – so it had a pretty good testing. Let me tell you, it was just perfect. The battery lasted an entire day. I also love the fact it is super light-weight and slim enough to fit into my fancy fashion-backpack. Also, if you’re on the move and a laptop seems slightly inconvenient, this little gem has a 360 screen – so it can be flipped all the way round to sit flat – I found this super handy on the metro! I am always trying to find new inspiration and ideas however sometimes this can be easier said than done. I found that Rome filled me with passion and inspiration to keep reinventing new photography and my personal style. I feel refreshed to work hard and ready to make changes. Isn’t it funny how a bit of travel can reset your mind and inspire your soul?
If you’re struggling for new ideas, new content or just simply need a little bit of inspiration – take a walk and refresh those mind cogs. Do something that’s different in your daily routine. Without sounding old, we are so lucky that we can grab our laptops and work wherever we like, so make use of this! Go sit in a coffee shop with a skinny latte and catch up on emails, edit your blog photos, watch YouTube videos (mine perhaps? ha!) It doesn’t have to be in Rome obviously, but that would of course help! If you’ve wanted to visit a different place, save up and go book those tickets.
